Beekeeping Experience

$120.00

You can experience the buzz of the hive with us at our Everton Park apiary in North Brisbane! No previous beekeeping experience necessary!

This one-on-one session will include a bee suit, gloves and beekeeping equipment to use on the day, please wear closed in shoes (preferably leather or rubber i.e boots or gumboots) to protect your feet from potential beestings. Whilst our PPE is designed to keep the stings away we cannot guarantee that you will go sting free during our session.

During our time we will:

  • Use a smoker

  • Learn the names and how to use beekeeping tools and equipment

  • Spot the queen (if you can)

  • Learn the difference between a frame of honey and a frame of brood

  • See the different stages of brood (eggs, larvae, pupa, adult bee)

Ages: Children (3+ years) and adults are welcome*

Number of attendees: 1 person

Time: 1 hour

Season: Spring, Summer and Autumn

Weather: Sunshine and above 20 degrees (All sessions are weather dependant as hives cannot be opened in the cold or rain)

*For safety reasons, children under 18 must have an adult on site with them at all times during the beekeeping experience however they don’t have to participate in the experience
